Christmas Eve Eve Tonight!

Traveling during Christmas Eve or planning on having lots of family arrive the next few days and might not make it to a Christmas Eve service?

TONIGHT, we have our first ever Christmas Eve Eve service at our regularly scheduled Monday Night 7pm service!  It'll be a small and laid back feel with acoustic worship in our new gathering place.  There'll also be activities for the kids so you can bring the whole family.  Hope to see you tonight!

Otherwise, we have three Candlelight Services Tuesday night for Christmas Eve:

5pm will be very family oriented and would be a great service to bring the kids to!
8pm will be our traditional worship style with the choir and brass musicians!
9:30pm will be our acoustic style much like the Monday Night service.

Lots of options, I'm (Jen) most excited for our new Monday Night and 9:30 services, consider trying something new with us!

Youth Group will start back up on January 8!

Ugly Sweater Addendum!

Forgot to mention that we'll be having an "Ugly Christmas Sweater" contest. So break out your best stuff (and it doesn't have to be a sweater, could just be a festive outfit)!

LAST YOUTH GROUP of the year! As well as for Jen and the Martin's!

Tomorrow will be our Christmas Themed Mass Hangout!  A perfect time to bring some friends to have some fun at church, just games and hangout time on the menu!

It will also be Jen's last Youth Group (he will be resigning from his position, but not the church, on December 31).  And Brad and Lauren Martin have a baby on the way due in January!  So they will literally have their hands full in the new year, so make sure to come by to wish them luck and some last minute baby name ideas!

Though Youth Group will be done after tomorrow until it picks back up with Pastor Mike Stelle on January 8 (same time, 5:43-7:15pm) there are plenty of happenings at church this month!

Our Advent services are in full swing on Sundays (8:30am and 10am) and Monday nights (7-8pm).  We will also have four Services for Christmas Eve starting with our Monday night Christmas Eve Eve service (Dec 12/7pm) and 3 Christmas Eve Services: 5pm Family, 8pm Traditional and 9:30 Acoustic (all Candlelight Services).

So bring your family and friends this Christmas!

Camas Meadows Winter Retreat Registration will be available soon!  So keep and eye out for them at church and posted on our website: www.hccfuel.com!

It'll be for Jan. 31 - Feb. 2!

Poinsettias and Merry Jesus-mas!

Poinsettias have arrived!

If you sold any for this mission trip fundraiser, you will need to come pick them up today or tomorrow to deliver them!  Please remember that these flowers don't do well in the cold so as you plan your deliveries, don't leave them on doorsteps (call ahead to make sure people are home) and do not leave them in cars/garages for long periods of time.  They will be in Room 101 in the Education Wing.

Half of our Nez Mission Trip spots are filled!  If you're considering on going to Idaho with us this year, grab a form (by clicking here) and ask Jen/Mike any questions you may have!  Registration will end and our first Team Meeting will be January 26!

---------------------------------------------

This Wednesday we will be having our Merry Jesus-mas night.  We'll play some games and talk about Christmas and what it's all about.

Next week (12/11) will be our last youth group of the year.  It'll be a Mass Hangout - Christmas style!  Be sure to invite (and transport!) your friends these next few weeks.

---------------------------------------------

Registration for our Camas Meadows Winter Retreat (Jan. 31 - Feb. 2) will be out soon so keep watch!

A few accidental omissions for tomorrow!

During our Thanksgiving Eve service an offering will be taken for Covenant World Relief to provide emergency food to the Philippines island province of Leyte following the destruction caused by Typhoon Haiyan.  You can read more about that here: http://www.covchurch.org/news/2013/11/12/cwr-partners-delivering-relief/

We are also having a Tree-lighting/service-project/potluck-dinner event this Sunday night from 5-7pm to kick off the Advent Season!  Wednesday will be the last day to drop off items for the stocking stuffer service project!  These stockings will go to the foster kids at A Place Called Hope for Christmas. We are still looking for toddler items as well as things for boys and individually wrapped snack foods.  If you don't know what to give, you can also leave a donation as we will be buying anything we'll need more of.

Finally, a letter went out to the congregation last week about my (Jen Easton) resignation for at the end of this year.  To read the letter click here.  And please don't hesitate to follow up with me on any questions you may have.  Thank you.

No Youth Group BUT We do have the Thanksgiving Eve Service!

There will be no youth group this week because we are having our annual Thanksgiving Eve service from 7-8pm!  It's a quick and wonderful time for everyone to gather together and spend a moment reflecting on the many ways that God has taken care of us this past year.

So bring your friends and family over to not just celebrate our Lord but to stop and thank Him!

Afterwards will be our annual "Unofficial Movie Night!"  It's unofficial because we are not buying you tickets, providing transportation or having you sign medical release forms. We're just letting you know that after the T-Eve Service, a bunch of us will be going to the 9:05 Frozen movie at the GH Galaxy theater!

It's opening night for that movie so consider buying your tickets ahead of time. Often we have groups between 60-100+ associated in some way to Harbor Cov, it's crazy fun!

We'll pick up Youth Group again on December 4 with "Merry Jesus-mas" and our last one of the year on December 11 for our Mass Christmas Hangout!

Thankfulness and No YG Next Week!

Tomorrow we will dive into the idea of Thankfulness.

What are you thankful for?

Next week (11/27) we won't be having Youth Group because our church will be having our annual Thanksgiving Eve Service from 7-8pm.  We would love to have our students come and bring their friends and family for this short time to stop and remember the past year and all of God's faithfulness.

Afterwards we that there will be something that has been dubbed, "The Unofficial Movie Night" where for over a decade the youth group has gathered together to watch the current family friendly movie together.  We will post the movie time as soon as they are posted, it is recommended to buy tickets early, some years we have over 100 people associated with Harbor Covenant there (students, their families, friends and past students)!

It's called unofficial because we don't have you sign a medical release, we don't organize rides or buy you tickets!

This year we will be seeing the movie Frozen!

Group Nite! Fall Retreat Registration Due Soon!

For our second Group Nite of the school year, we are going to continue looking at what it means to live a Missional Life.  This week’s lesson was built around Matthew 9:35-36. This passage is one of several places in the Gospels where Jesus is described as having great compassion toward hurting people. The compassion was often felt toward large groups of people; many of these people were physically sick, and all of them needed spiritual healing, too.

So come out tonight, bring a friend and after running around a bit we will be breaking into our guy and girl small groups and going through the lesson with them.

Also, THIS is the last week to turn in Fall Retreat registrations and this will be our last Wednesday night to turn them in as well!  Next Wednesday will be too late!  So get your forms in.  They can be found at church and online (www.hccfuel.com). Drop them off at the lock box outside of room 106 in the Education wing or if it's after hours, in our mailbox located behind the church by the portables.

Here's a quick video from last year!

NEXT WEEK is our first Mass Hangout of the schoolyear!  This night is built for inviting your friends so plan ahead on who you want to invite.  Also remember to talk to your parents about possibly needing to give rides for your friends to try to eliminate as many obstacles as possible for them!

Wednesday, October 9, 2013

Pizza & Praise Tonight! (Bring $3 for a Pizza Dinner)

See you tonight!

Group Nite!

It's our first Group Nite of the school year!

We'll kick off with some games and finish the night by splitting up into guys and girl groups to go over our 3 part series on what it means to have a "missional lifestyle".  We do this because we realize that having a small group is important and we desire to give our students a taste of that.  And we also know that even though the information is the same, guys and girls (and even grades) process them differently and we want to provide a place to do that!

This Wednesday we will be going over Romans 3:9-28 which talks about how we all are in need of salvation and how when we experience true forgiveness, how that should change how we live our lives.

And just a friendly reminder, our Fall Retreat is THIS month from Oct. 25-27 and the "$10 Discount" deadline is Oct. 11th!

Fall Retreat Registration

And we also have Registration out for our Summer Mission Trip to Idaho!  It's out early so that we can be helping students with year round fundraisers including the Poinsettia one they can be doing right now!

There is also a way for them to sign up for both trips, have your student bring home the sheet explaining how or contact Jen Easton soon!

Lifeline Tonight! 5:43-7:15pm

Tonight we will kick off with some crazy games and end the night hearing about Director Jen Easton's life in Middle School as well as from some of our awesome volunteers.  What was their relationship with God like for them then?

Middle School is tough.  Many adults are willing to say that they'd like to go back to a period in their life, often their 20's or college or for some even high school.  But you'll never hear anyone say that they'd like to go back to when they were in middle school!  So is it an awkward time for everyone?  And how do you do more than just survive it?

We'll see you tonight!

We also have registration for our Fall Retreat to Camp of the Cascades (Oct. 25-27) as well as for our Summer Mission trip to The Nez in Idaho (July 13-19) available!  They will also be uploaded to our website (www.hccfuel.com) later this week.

Our youth groups are every Wednesday from 5:43-7:15pm for current 6-8th graders.

Rainier Game Correction and Gleanings Update!

The Rainiers are NOT playing THIS Wednesday!

They are however playing NEXT Wednesday the 28th so that will be when our crazy Baseball game will be!

This is the game where for nearly 15 years we've been going to a Rainiers game to root for the opposing teams Right Fielder!  He has no idea that he will have 60+ people cheering for him and it's quite a laugh.  You can't miss it, it's the best way to finish off your summer!

Tickets will cost $15 and come with transportation from Harbor Covenant to Cheney Stadium and a meal voucher for a Hot Dog, chips and a soda!

So pay your $15 at the church office or put it in the metal drop box outside the Youth Pod (Room 106 in the Education Wing) this Sunday or as soon as you can!  First come, first served!  Also make sure that you have a Medical Release Form filled out (if you've gone on any trips with us this year you should be fine).

We'll meet at church at 5:30pm
We really need you all to pre-purchase your tickets so we know we have enough seats!  So contact Mike or Jen and get your money in!

----------------------------------------------------

And for our Mission Trip Gleanings Crew: Our Wild Waves delayed debrief will be the following day, Thursday Aug. 29th!

Times will be sent out soon but wanted to make sure most of you would be able to make it so please contact Jen with a yeah or boo-hoo soon!

Post VBS Pizza Summer Hangout!

Vacation Bible School starts tomorrow (Monday) and we often have middle school students helping out with the little kids.  So since a bunch of you will be there anyway, when it's all over we'll have some pizza and hangout time for you all from 12:30-2!  You don't have to be helping out at VBS to come for the hangout, you just have to be a middle school student!

Also be aware, a date has been set for our Annual Rainier Baseball Game!  Next Wednesday on the 21st, mark your calendars and bring your friends!  For the uninitiated, this is the game where for nearly 15 years we've been going to a Rainiers game to root for the opposing teams Right Fielder!  He has no idea that he will have 60+ people cheering for him and it's quite a laugh.  You can't miss it, it's the best way to finish off your summer!  More details to come soon!

Last Group Nite of the School Year!

We're finishing our last Group Nite series tonight talking about Peter and how he wanted to walk on water like Jesus.  What's the boldest thing you have ever done as a follower of Jesus?  Come tonight to play some games, talk about the upcoming TRIKE RACE, and dig into the book of Matthew and hear about this crazy dude who WALKED ON WATER!

Wednesday, May 8, 2013

IIT316 Tonight! And some Summer Camp info!

Tonight is a IIT316 (2 Timothy 3:16) night!

Ever heard the term "the writing on the wall" in a book, movie or tv show?  It's a term that often speaks of impending doom for the character.  Did you know that reference comes from a Bible passage?

So bring your Bible and bring a friend as we play some games and jump into the book of Daniel to find out why the Bible talks about a disembodied hand writing on a wall and how that can have anything to do with us!

-----------------------------------------------------------------

Summer camp details are finally getting finished, we'll have registration out for you this next week!

The dates have been the same all year: August 4-10

And as we promised at the Winter Dessert, it will be much cheaper this year from last year!

Wednesday, May 1, 2013

Group Nite and Gleanings Community Rent-a-Kid

This week, we are continuing a three-week series (4/10, tonight, and 5/15) on the topic of “Dangerous People.” Each lesson focuses on a biblical character who did the right thing despite the risk of alienation, death, or rejection. We'll talk tonight about Ester, using Ester 4 as our primary passage of Scripture.

Last time we talked about peer pressure, tonight we will talk about being bold when we see injustice in our world. Making a decision to follow Christ is a defining moment because we become a part of something bigger than ourselves. Being a Christ-follower gives us a purpose that is bigger than our own.

Group Nite Tonight

This week, we are starting a new three-week series (tonight, 5/1/, and 5/15) on the topic of “Dangerous People.” Each lesson focuses on a biblical character who did the right thing despite the risk of alienation, death, or rejection. We'll talk tonight about Daniel, using Daniel 1 as our primary passage of Scripture.

Is peer pressure a big issue for you and your friends, or do you think adults place too much emphasis on it? Come to small group tonight to talk about it.

Easter Was...

This past weekend was Easter!  So lets talk about it some more.

Why is Easter such a big deal?

What's the deal with eggs and creepy bunny costumes?

Come for games and to have your questions discussed (and hopefully answered!).

Group Nite!

For Group Nite's we start off playing some games and then break into smaller groups where we go through a short Bible study series.

Our small groups will finish a two-week series (tonight and two weeks ago) on the topic of worship, and this second lesson focuses on honoring God through everything we do, not just through part of our lives or only through music.

We will look at Romans 12:1-2, a passage that talks about how we should be living sacrifices to God.

Gleanings Mission Trip people!  We have started our last big fundraiser!  If you don't have your Community Rent-A-Kid forms, grab them tonight and start getting people involved!

IIT316!

This Wednesday is IIT316!

What's that you ask?  Well a night where we play some games and then grab a Bible (we have a bunch here but if you remember, bring yours from home!) and dig into a passage to figure out how it could apply to our lives.

The strange name stands for 2 Timothy 3:16 which says, "All Scripture is God breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting, and training in righteousness."

If that's true, then we should be able to meet up later and find out how a talking Donkey from a book in the Old Testament could be relevant to us today...and we will!

So bring yourselves, your friends and your Bible if you got one and we'll see you soon!

-------------------------------

Gleanings alert!

We have a just a few spots left for our mission trip so if anyone was still interested in going, please contact Jen pronto because we are just starting our next big fund raiser and we want you to be a part of it!

There will be Rent-a-Kid forms to pick up at Youth Group for all those going on the trip!

-------------------------------

And Easter is coming up!  Our church will have services at 8, 9:30 and 11am, please come and join us!

Group Nite!

For Group Nite's we start off playing some games and then break into smaller groups where we go through a short Bible study series.

Our small groups will begin a two-week series (tonight and on 3/27) on the topic of worship, and this first lesson focused on placing God at the center of our lives because He is the only one worth our worship and adoration.

We will look at Deuteronomy 6:1-9, a passage that reveals God’s desire for his followers—people whose lives would be defined by full commitment and devotion to him. In verse 5, we learn that God wants us to love him with all of our heart and all of our soul and all of our mind—every part of who we are. This passage is full of the type of love and passion that we can have for the God who created us. The words are powerful and meaningful and truly explain the meaning of worship: putting God in the center of our lives and putting God first in our soul, our mind, and our heart.

Parents, here are some questions you might want to use this week as you talk with your student about our lesson:

·         How do you think God feels if we choose to worship something or someone else, instead of worshiping Him?
·         What are some common obstacles teenagers face to obeying God and loving God fully?
·         What are some ways you can show God your devotion this week—including through your attitudes and actions toward other people?

Fort Wars and Confirmation

Wednesday is our crazy Fort Wars night!

Bring whatever supplies (your parents will let you bring) to build your 'typical' home fort (ie: sheets, cushions, rope, tape, cardboard, etc).  You may want to arrive a few minutes early and don't forget to BRING your friends!  You may want to ask your parents if they can give them a ride to youth group.

We'll spend the first part of the night building our forts in groups divided by grades.  Then we'll play a few rounds "warring" with each other using foam darts!  It'll be a night of silliness that you and your friends won't want to miss.
----------------------------

On a completely different note, our Middle School Sunday School class has been going through a Confirmation Lesson every week.  However, 7-8th grade students who have been going to the Sunday School class and would like to finish the school year being Confirmed should consider filling out our Confirmation packet.  If they do, we will pair them up with an adult leader who will meet with them a few times a month to encourage, and help answer questions.  The registration can be found by clicking here or on our website: www.hccfuel.com.  Direct any questions to Mike Stelle or Jen Easton.

Stupid Cupid Night and Ash Wednesday Evening Service

Tomorrow is Valentine's Day.  Do you want to know why that can be a silly holiday for a middle school student?  Then meet us in Room 101 (entrance is from the back of the Education Building) for youth group and don't forget to bring a friend (and like always, you don't have to be dating this person!).

We will be ending youth group early (6:55pm) to let students that want to go to the church's Ash Wednesday evening service (7-8pm) with their friends and family!  If you don't want to attend (even though you should!) you can get picked up at 7 or hang out with some of our cool youth leaders until the normal 7:15pm pickup time.

Next week is Presidents Break and we will NOT be having Youth Group.  And the following Wednesday (2/27) will be the Winter Dessert so bring your family!

Pizza & Praise - Bring $4 for Dinner! Also Winter and Mission Trip Info

On our Pizza and Praise nights, we kick off the night sharing a pizza dinner together.  Afterwards we move to worshiping together through songs.

There's something about sharing a meal together that is really cool.  These nights give us another way that we can be more of a family for each other.  Worship to our God also happens in all sorts of ways but we realize that our students don't always have a chance to do so through song.

So come spend some time with us, eat and sing and go home with a refreshed and with a new focus.

Group Nite and Winter Retreat!

Group Nite is this Wednesday!

We are starting a new two week series (Part 2 on 1/30) on making good decisions.  Part 1 will focus on the decisions that we make at school.  We will look at Romans 7:21-25 and how the Apostle Paul told the Christians in Rome that he was in a constant battle where he desired to do the right thing but continued to fall short and do the opposite and how familiar a struggle that is with students today.

Also we continue to have sign ups for our Winter Retreat to Camas Meadows (West of Wenatchee off of Hwy 97).  It's a fantastic trip and we are looking to bring our biggest group yet so don't miss out!  And remember that we LEAVE EARLY on Friday Feb. 1 so please make arrangements on getting to church BY 1:30pm!  A half day at school will still count towards their attendance but also helps us get out to the camp early enough on Friday to do more and fill out our weekend better.

Registration is on our website but can also be found by clicking here.

Also make sure that you have an up to date 2012-13 Medical Release Form found by clicking here.

Our Winter Calendar/Station Newsletter is also out!  Please contact Jen Easton if one was not mailed to you and we'll make sure you're on the list for the Spring.  Until then you can pick up a copy at church/youth group or online at our website (or by clicking here).

Next week is Pizza and Praise, so bring $4 and come hungry for a pizza dinner and some worship!
