Summer Dessert THIS WEDNESDAY! 6:30-830

Our annual Summer Dessert is a mere day away!

Come bring your family and friends as we eat some sweets and see and hear what happened on all our trips this summer.

We'll see videos of the middle school and high school summer camps and mission trips as well as hear stories from students.

It's always great to be able to look back at the busy summer and see what God was doing all around us!

And you'll also get to hear about all the happenings this Fall - like Pac Nite next week!

P.S. We didn't break a World Record last week but we thank everyone for their help in laying down a couple thousand feet of pennies! Fun was had and we learned a ton in case we decide to try it again next year.

Trikegate Party!

That's right, our annual Trike Race is only a few weeks away! This Wednesday we will be breaking up into our 4 teams and deciding what theme you'll be going for and what you will make it out of.

For those of you new to the Trike Race, it'll be the 14th one we've done here at HCC! At the end of every year, our small groups build a trike to race around a course at church. It's a ton of fun so get your friends involved! The groups this year will be 6th grade guys, 7-8th grade guys, 6-7th grade girls and 8th grade girls.

Wednesday will be mostly a brainstorming night but if you have props for themes or something to build off of, bring them! In previous years we've had trikes built out of trash cans, lawn mowers, shopping carts, boogie boards, baby strollers, wheel chairs...even trikes! Get creative and get down here this Wednesday!

Our summer camp forms for Camp Spalding our out! Spots are limited so get them in!

We're also having a parent night for those parents with incoming 6th graders. Don't miss it! If you have any questions please get a hold of Jen or Mike at the church.

Christmas Parties!

For our last Wednesday Youth Group of the year, the guys and girls will be meeting at their own Christmas Parties. Both of them will be at the usual time (5:43-7:15pm).

Girls will be meeting at Rachel’s house. Bring $3, a friend and a treat to share as we decorate ornaments! Contact Rachel or Katherine with any questions!

Guys will be at the Graffe’s house. Bring $3 for food and be ready for fun! Contact Jen with any questions!

Also Winter Retreat forms will be available this week (note that our weekend has moved up a whole month to Feb. 5-7!). Forms can be picked up in the Youth Pod (room 106 in the ed building) or downloaded online at www.hccfuel.com.

We still have spots open for our Summer Mission Trip to Yakima this year (The Yak). Forms can also be found at church or online as well.

Finally, we want your kids to come on these trips so please contact me if there is anything we can do to make that happen! We still have money in our Scholarship Fund for this year as well, but please contact me soon!

Have a wonderful advent season and a safe end of the year and we'll kick off our 2010 Wednesday Night Youth Groups January 6th!

Today!

Today we are having our, "What's in a Name?" night. We'll play some games and talk about why we call our Middle School Youth Group, "Fuel." So make sure you're here from 5:43-7:15pm tonight for some fun!

Also remember to be coming up with questions to ask for next weeks Volunteer Staff Q&A Night! You ask us any question you want and we'll answer it as honestly as we can! And don't forget about Fall Retreat registration forms! You can pick them up here (and online soon) and drop them off in the drop box outside the Youth Pod (room 106).

We've been having some computer issues around the church but I managed to get the videos of our summer trips up online:

You might notice that they're on Vimeo and not on Youtube and that is because they kept muting the videos because of the music - but here they are in all their glory!

This Week!

It being "Spring" Break and all, we are changing things up a little.

Tuesday Afternoon (weather permitting) Rachel will be taking a group out to see some baby goats!  (More info coming but it's currently looking to be around 1pm.)  If you are interested just send me an email at jeaston at harborcovenant.org or give Rachel or I a call.

Wednesday from 6-7:30pm we will be bringing back "Hoonting"!  If you don't know what that is, we essentially play blowdart tag with safety goggles, pvc pipes and hand made paper cone darts.  I know you must be saying to yourself, "what are they thinking?"  But that must only be because you have never tried it!  Lots of fun to be had so come on down!

And Thursday from 12-1:30pm we will be doing a Frisbee Disc Golf Clinic and Tournament.  If you are interested in learning how to play or even just to pick up some tips on how to chuck a frisbee, then you need to be here!  Come on out to learn how to play on a course here at church that jr and sr highers have been playing on for nearly 10 years!  If you have a frisbee, bring it and if you don't, no worries!  We got you covered!

If you want to do something else this week, give one of your leaders a call!

----Free Movie Info----

Now we originally were planning to watch a movie Tuesday night but let me give you some background about that first.  A very nice person at our church won in an auction 75 tickets to see a movie at the new Galaxy Theaters here in Gig Harbor and promptly donated it to the youth group!  We tried to set up a night this week but found it to be too difficult.

The new plan is to watch the new Dreamworks movie Monsters Vs. Aliens an April 15th around 6pm.  Since that is on Wednesday night, this will be instead of Youth Group!  We will be requiring students to sign up WITH a $5 deposit (which we will give back to you at the movie) to make sure that every seat is filled and no one is turned away that wanted to go.

Sign up lists will be at each youth event this week (or you can drop off your deposit with your name at the front office) so make sure your name gets on that list!

I will also be adding the Summer Camp (Camp Spalding) and Mission Trip (Gleanings) forms up online tomorrow!

What is Fuel?

This will be the topic for this Wednesday's youth group at 5:43-7:15pm!

So come on down for some games and don't forget to be thinking about questions you'd like our staff to answer for Sept. 24th!

Also, Fall Retreat forms must be in by Sunday to keep the discounted rate of $100 ($90 + $10 transportation fee). After that it will cost you an extra $10 late fee so get them in!

Lastly, I finally got my butt in gear and uploaded photos from summer camp and the yak trip! So head on over to our picture site with a link to the right ---->

Or you could click here: www.hcc.smugmug.com

See you Wednesday!

PAC NITE IS UPON US!

So tomorrow we will have our 11th annual Pac Nite!  So come on down and bring a friend as we spend the evening packing you guys into things!

Our Newsletter, "The Station" just went out so if you don't receive one let me know!  You can also pick more up in the Youth Pod.

I plan on getting our summer trip pictures up on our picture site: www.hcc.smugmug.com this week!  To hold you over, I've posted the slideshows from the Summer Dessert last week on Youtube!  Enjoy!

See You Next Week!

There is no Youth Group tonight! Instead next week we will be having our "Fort War." Do you remember when you were little and you and your friends and siblings would build forts out of pillows, furniture and blankets? Then bring some friends and supplies (blankets and pillows) as we turn back the clock! Each grade will build a fort and then we will "war" with our foam finger rockets! It will be the regular time of 5:43-7:15pm.

Afterwards from 7:30-8:30pm we have our next Yak Mission Meeting! Be selling your car wash tickets and writing your support letters!

If you have any questions, please contact Jen Easton at the church!

Please keep signing up for our summer camp to Camp Spalding with Believer's Fellowship! Spots are limited and first come, first served!

There is a link to the sign up form on the right!

See ya Wednesday!

So the Trike Race is this Wednesday! Be calling your staff to make sure your trike is ready and what you need to be on the same page theme-wise! If you need phone numbers of staff, please contact Jen Easton at the church (851-8450) or email me!

And try to show up a little early with your group!

This will be our last "weekly" Wednesday night youth group this school year. We will be doing one more special event later this month as well as one in June (stay tuned).

Please keep signing up for our summer camp to Spalding with Believer's Fellowship!

Lastly, we will be having two Bible Studies a month through the summer and you will be able to find details later and dates on our calendar (link to the right).
