Poinsettias Are Here!
So our Poinsettias from our Mission Trip Fund Raiser are in the Youth Pod!
If you sold any please swing by the office today or tomorrow to pick them up so you can deliver them!
We suggest you pick up them up today ESPECIALLY if you sold some to your teachers at school so that you can bring them tomorrow (Friday) instead of Monday.
It would be a good idea to call people about delivery's ahead of time because you won't be able to leave these flowers outside in the cold because they are very sensitive. Try also not to leave them in a cold car or garage for an extended amount to time.
Thanks and good luck!

Christmas 101 and Poinsettias!
This Wednesday we'll get you in the Christmas Spirit with our night of "Christmas 101!"
We'll play a bunch of games and talk about the importance of why we celebrate this day.
A prize for the one wearing the "best" Christmas sweater!
Also a reminder to those that sold Poinsettias for our mission trip fund-raisers, you'll need to pick them up by Friday evening. They will also arrive Thursday afternoon for those wanting to get a head start on delivering (just give me or Heather a call to make sure when they arrive on Thursday). Please remember to not leave them out in the cold (on doorsteps, etc) because they tend to be very sensitive to the low temperatures!
Next week we have our small group (guys and girls) Christmas Parties so make sure you grab your postcard at Youth Group on where it'll be!

Thanksgiving Eve Service and Unofficial Movie Night!
There is no regular youth group THIS Wednesday night!
Instead invite your family and friends to come to our church-wide Thanksgiving Eve Service from 7-8pm. It's a great little service we do every year where we get to share what we are thankful for and hear what the Covenant World Mission is doing around the world.
Afterwards is our annual "Unofficial Movie Night"! This isn't a youth event so much as a gathering of all the people we know. We will be seeing the new Disney 3D Movie "Tangled" at the Galaxy Theater's 9:15pm showing. Since this is an unofficial "event" we won't be buying your ticket or providing a bus there or make you fill out a medical release form. But we'll be there with 60-100 other people we know from HCC (middle school and high school youth groups, families, friends, former youth group students returning from college, etc.) and you should be too!

Urgent Poinsettia Fund Raiser Info!
I was mistaken and your forms for the Poinsettia Mission Trip Fund Raiser need to be in by:
11AM This Friday (11/19)
Sorry for the confusion! If you have any questions, please contact Jen Easton. Please turn them into the front office by 11am for your sold flowers to be included in our Dec. 3rd delivery!

Fly Away!
This Wednesday we will be back to meeting at 5:43pm for an evening of games and then Jen will talk about his chance to ride around in a Cessna last week (come see how he links that to the Bible!).
at the next available time after the service (usually around 9pm) at our local Galaxy Theater. We call it the unofficial movie night because we won't be providing rides or buying your tickets. That's all on you! So start arranging rides and making planes (inviting friends) because there is nothing quite like watching a movie with 100 other people you know!
Next week we will be doing another different night so pay attention! Instead of our regular scheduled youth group our church is having our annual Thanksgiving Eve Service from 7-8pm. We love this simple service and encourage all our students to bring their friends and family (to this church-wide event) to be able to remember what we all are thankful for.
Afterwards is our annual "Unofficial Movie Night"! We will be going to see the family friendly movie, Tangled:

That's all on you! So start arranging rides and making planes (inviting friends) because there is nothing quite like watching a movie with 100 other people you know!
And finally just one more reminder that registration for our Mission Trip to Gleanings is available and we are wrapping up our final week of our first fund raising opportunity. So keep selling your Poinsettias! Forms are available outside room 106 (The Youth Pod) and it is a simple and easy fund raiser! Just think of family, neighbors and local business's that would like to decorate with these very nice potted flowers!

No Regular Wed. Night - Overnighter!
This Wednesday, instead of meeting at our regular time of 5:43pm, we're going to START youth group at 9pm right as High School is finishing! Then we will run around like crazy, play games, hang out, and watch movies until 10am the following morning (no school the following day due to Veteran's Day)!
Registration forms need be in so we know how many to plan for so if you're still thinking about coming or have friends that are interested, please contact Jen Easton right away!
The registration form can be found at the church or on our website.
Much fun to be had so don't miss it!
P.S. Our registration for our mission trip to Gleanings down in Fresno California is out so pick one up or download a copy from our website! We already have a fund raiser going on right now so grab some poinsettia forms from the church and start thinking of neighbors, family, and even business's that might be interested in purchasing some! They will be available for delivery (by the students) by Dec. 3rd and all the proceeds go to your Mission Trip!

Chill at Chapel Hill Tonight!
The event is free but you'll need a student ID card to get in (if you don't have one, have a parent or friends parent walk you in).
Since this is the first one of the year there'll be huge inflatable games like obstacle courses! So come down and bring your friends! See you there!
*Also wanted to remind you that our Mission Trip Registration is available (and can be picked up at church or printed from our website). For those thinking about going, we currently have a Fund Raiser selling Poinsettias so grab a form and sell a few!
This Wednesday instead of our regular youth group, we will be having an overnighter from 9pm to 10am (with no school being on Thursday). Forms are at the church and online as well and need to be by Sunday! Cost is $5.

IIT316 and Next Week's Overnighter!
This Wednesday is another one of our IIT316 nights so bring a friend, bring a Bible as we play some games and then dig into a Bible story!
Next week we will have our Overnighter! Instead of our normal youth group time of 5:43pm, we'll meet AFTER High School at 9pm and run around like crazy all night (No school with Veteran's Day on Thursday) and get picked up at 10am the next morning! Cost is $5 and a registration form can be found at the church or on our website! Please get them in soon so I can prepare!
Our Registration for our Mission Trip to Gleanings down in Fresno California will be released as well so make sure to check it out!
Along with that our first Fund Raiser for our mission trip will be Poinsettia Sales so grab some forms at youth group and canvas your neighborhood!

What's in a Name?
So last week we were asked a few times why we call our Middle School Youth Group, Fuel.
Well our answer was for them to come back THIS Wednesday to hear all about it!
We'll start off our night running around and playing some games and then explaining where the name came from and what we'd like to see our group be like this year.
So come one, come all (as in bring a friend) to FUEL!
Times are still 5:43-7:15pm in the Sanctuary.
Also next week will be our Staff Q&A Night were we collect questions that you all would like our Volunteer Staff team to answer! So come with more questions to right down and of course come back next week to hear our answers!
Our Fall Retreat to Camp of the Cascades (Oct.22-24) registration is still out so make sure you check it out and consider coming! Scholarship forms are also available.

PAC NITE!
Our 13th annual Middle School Fall Kick-off is back!
Every September for as long as I can remember, we've started the year out with our goofy evening of seeing how many students we can pack into things like hula hoops and our Maytag box Relay.
What usually ends up happening is we pack a ton of fun into one night!
It's a perfect night to bring a bunch of friends so do so and come out for a great way to start the Fall.
Middle School Youth Group starts @ 5:43pm and goes until 7:15pm and we'll be meeting in the Sanctuary. Don't miss out!
We also have registration for our October Fall Retreat at Camp of the Cascades available as well as Scholarship forms which you can find at youth group and on our website!

Summer Calendar and Yak: Day 3!
Wednesday:
Today we switched from kids club to work projects. We got in the car and were soon at our work sites. We were the second group to paint this week. It was really fun trying to paint up high; the ladders were a bit wobbly. No fears though, we were all safe with the help of our ladder buddies. Our evening activity tonight was a trip to Imperial's Garden a farm that's nearby. It was a really fun experience to just walk down the fields and eat cucumbers and peppers. Can't wait for tomorrow!
-Lizzie
Our groups switched roles today with mine working on the house our other group had started. The homeowner's name is Monica and she was really sweet. I think we can finish up on our last day tomorrow, our group was all over it today. Our opposition will be the temperature which will be in the 90s. This will be fine for most of us, unless you're stylish like Spencer and need to paint in a pinstripe suit...

Yak: Day 2 and 3
Monday:
Yesterday was so much fun! Devo time was nice and peaceful. I'm gettiing to know more of what it's like being a mission worker and helping people for them and not for summer spending money. I was lucky to hang out with a bunch of kids at "Kids Club" yesterday. Playing games and watching a skit for Bible stories. Then for our night activity we went to Wapato and listened to Cory and Philip (Native Americans from the Yakama Tribe)tell about the Yakama Native American culture and history. CLub was fun, I really liked the songs we sang.
-Mav
Tuesday:
Today was epic! Some people finished painting houses and my group finished our half of Kids Club. Kids Club was amazing because the kids that come are like the Energizer Bunny! We also had many theme songs such as "Sweet Caroline", "Don't Stop Believing", and "Fruit Salad" (an incroyable song by the Wiggles). We all are looking forward to serving more people tomorrow!
-Five Oh (Daniel)
Our students are doing awesome! It's been great watching them play with those kids, giving them piggy backs for hours and hearing about the work crews painting and interacting with the families that live there. Today we also went to a retirement home and our students were able to spend the morning with the residents there, painting nails and playing games. Another bonus Today was that Chandler made it over from being stuck in Panama after the High School Mission Trip! Funny to think that 24 hours ago she was over 3000 miles away. Tomorrow we switch up work duties and two of our groups will start painting houses and one will head over to Lions Park for Kids Club!

Yak Mission Day 1
Today was really fun. My car rocked out to Disney and the old Gleanings CD. At the rest stop some of us played Ninjas and had fun hanging out. Being back at Yakama is really fun. It brings back so many memories from 2 years ago. I am really looking forward to working with my friends, getting to know people, and learning about serving God.
-Maddie
The students were awesome today and the drive couldn't have gone smoother. Lots of meetings and mixers as we got to know everyone from the other three churches. Our group is being split into three different teams. Two of them will be doing the Kids Club program at the park and the other one will be painting! Lots of excitement, praying it lasts all night long and motivates them to get up in less then 7 hours to start our day! God is good!

- A light jacket or sweatshirt for the evenings.
- Swimsuit (One piece only!) and towel. These will also be used to shower in. We will shower like last time at the local pool next door. Shower shoes (cheap flip flops) are recommended.
- Toiletries as well as any medications.
- Sleeping bag, pillow, sleeping pad. The sleeping pad doesn't have to be much (cheap foam ones can be purchased at Big 5 or Target) but the floors at the church can be a little hard!
- Bible and Pen!
- Spending money. This is optional, there are tshirts there for sale where the proceeds go to a good cause as well as a little corner mart we make field trips to for some snacks during the week.
- Flashlight
- Water bottle (or even better, a Camel Pak)
- Camera (optional)
What not to bring:
Personal Electronic Devices like iPods/gaming (things that use headphones) due to them being Anti-Social, Weapons, Drugs, Alcohol, Pets, Expensive Personal Items, bad attitudes, or miniature statues.
Cell phones can come but we ask that they are left with leaders to keep distractions to a minimum.
We will be attempting to update our blog everyday as well as our twitter feed which can be found in 3 locations:
- The right side of our blog at www.hccfuel.com
- www.twitter.com/hccfuel
- by texting "follow hccfuel" (without quotation marks) to the phone number 40404. By doing this all of our tweets will be texted right to your cell phone! We will text travel/location/photos, etc. (And to turn them off text "Leave hccfuel" to the same number.)

30 hr famine info!
If you haven't turned in forms today (link to release form), please email Jen (jeaston @ harborcovenant . org) to let him know your planning on coming!
Who: Harbor Covenant, Believer’s Fellowship, Chapel Hill and Lighthouse Christian School
What: 30 Hour Famine
Where: Lighthouse Christian (Sat. community service off campus)
When: Fast starts after lunch on Friday
Friday check-in from 5:30pm pick-up @10pm
Saturday drop off @9am (bring work clothes!)
6pm breaking fast together (family welcome to join!)
Why: A voluntary fast to raise money and awareness for world hunger.
How: Together.
World Vision's 30 Hour Famine is a worldwide movement of students who are serious about serving God and fighting hunger - all on an empty stomach. For 30 hours, participants get a taste of hunger by not eating - something more than a billion people around the world experience every day . Some groups and individuals are raising money for World Vision for each hour they’re fasting and others are bringing donations and canned food for FISH.
This will be a “Juice Fast.” We encourage students to drink juices including sports drinks to give them some energy. Remember to try and avoid citrus drinks!
Friday we’ll be playing lots of games and learning about people in all parts of the world.
Saturday we will be doing some community service (helps take your mind off of yourself when your helping others!). We’ll most likely be working at the Northwest Furniture Bank cleaning up the property around their warehouse. Other groups will be at the Tacoma Shelter and around Gig Harbor.
We’ll finish our fast with dinner together at Lighthouse Christian School at 6pm! Families are welcome (let us know so we have enough food).
Please contact Jen Easton if you have any questions!

Fort Wars!!!
So remember when you were a kid and you made forts out of couch cushions and blankets? Yeah, sure the one you made yesterday counts too...
Anyhoo, be ready to pull out all your old clothespin tricks this Wednesday as we build our forts and go to war!
Fort Wars will be in place of our normal "Mass Hangout" night and is a great chance for you to bring your friends! We'll spend a chunk of time in the beginning building forts (in your grades) and then the second half of the night will be spent flinging foam at each other in a dodgeball/capture-the-flag sort of game. That's right, total insanity. Bring your friends.
Next week will be our "Switcharoo" night where Mike and Heather (who lead High School) will run our youth group that night and I'll be teaching at High School!
This Sunday we'll have our next Yak mission meeting from 1-2:30pm! Get your stuff and forms turned in! Write some support letters! Prepare yourselves to work as a team! Eat lots of broccoli! Sorry, I got a little carried away there...
And now our comic of the week:

No 8th Grade Girls Bible Study Tomorrow!
Just a heads up that the 8th Grade Girls Bible Study will be cancelled tomorrow.

This Wednesday we will be playing some games and diving into some Mark 10! Bring your Bible!
We will also be talking about how we are joining Believer's Fellowship, Chapel Hill and Lighthouse Christian School on April 30th and May 1st for 30 Hour Famine. Those who want to participate will refrain from eating after lunch that Friday (4/30) and we'll meet that evening together playing games and learning about the billion people around the world who experience hunger everyday. We'll meet back up Saturday morning to do some service projects and end the afternoon with a meal together.
For more information of World Vision's 30 Hour Famine, click here: www.30hourfamine.org And I'll give more information as we get closer to the date.
Also a reminder to those going on our Yak Summer Mission trip, our next meeting is schedule for Sunday (4/25) and please remember to be sending out your support letters! If you still have questions about them please contact Jen!

Retreat Recap!
Whether you're still recovering from the retreat or just want to know what happened, don't miss tomorrow's Retreat Recap Night!
We'll be playing some games and talking about what our speaker Heather shared with us this past weekend on our Winter Retreat.
Also as a heads up, those who are signed up or are considering going on our Mission Trip (The Yak) this summer, be sure to participate this Thursday night for our second fund raiser, The Sweetheart Banquet! Please arrive at 4:45pm in a black bottom and white top (in case we need you to serve some of the tables). Please stay as long as you can (we realize that it is a school night) preferably until 9pm to help clean up afterwards.
All proceeds from the night will be split up between all High School and Middle Schoolers helping out that night that are going on our mission trips.
If you have activities preventing you from coming on time, we could still use your help as long as you arrive as soon as you can. And remember, even if you are still only considering going, I recommend that you come to help out to make sure you don't miss out on a fun night and contributions towards your trip!

The Dating Game Tonight!
No, we're not playing matchmaker tonight, but we will be playing games and talking about dating and why Valentines Day is weird!
THIS WEEKEND is our Winter Retreat!!! Get ready for the Game Show Weekend!
Here's the packing list and please note how you will need to bring a sack dinner for the ride over! (Also note that we will be leaving an hour earlier Sunday to get everyone home before the Superbowl and not during!)
Next Wednesday will be our Retreat Recap where we play games and hear a quick review of what we did and heard this weekend.

Klumps tonight!
Sorry for the late post, I blame jet lag!
Girls will be doing a "Spa Night" so bring anything girly you think you'll need for that or just come to hang out! Rachel will also have a bunch of nail polish and such to use as well.
Guys on the other hand will be meeting in room 101 for some Hoonting! If you haven't heard of that before, it's a game of blow darting with paper darts that we've been doing for over a decade!
Everyone should bring a friend and be prepared for fun!
Also please turn in your Winter Retreat/Mission Trip forms! We want all our students to come so let me know what I can do to make that happen and remember that scholarships are always available! Also if any parents are available to drive or lone a van/suv that would be extremely helpful!
One last thing, on Sunday our church is having a Annual Congregational Meeting from 5-7pm and will be showing the movie "Up" for the students and we would love help from Middle/High School students with the kids!

See you tonight!
